Massage Therapy - Promoting Health And Wellbeing

Body massaging is a therapy which can be done by hand or with an instrument to give a soothing effect to the soft tissues of the body. Massage therapy is one of the best and most proficient methods of practice used today to improve the overall health and wellbeing. Good massage techniques will improve blood circulation, reduce any tension, un-strain the muscles and joints, and relax the body and the mind.

Massage therapy will allow you to become more relaxed while driving away the everyday tension that is present in your busy life - even if for only a brief while. Basically, massage therapy requires a soothing or specia touch when handling the body's soft tissues. A combination of stretching, kneading, pressure, and gentle strokes are combined to release the body of its stressors and allow it to feel re-energized. This can help you to feel more balanced and less overwhelmed during your day, thus contributing to overall health.

There are several different types of massage therapy available. One may opt for a full body massage or, as in many spas, they can choose from a list of massage therapy choices. A foot massage, hand massage, scalp massage, or back massage would be much more reasonably priced than that of the full body massage. However, there are also several other things that can be combined with the massage that can make it more amazing than it already is. Music and sent are two popular combinations. This method of practice gives certain poise between art and the scientific principles of healing.

In the U.S. especially, massage therapy practitioners are well trained about these particular techniques. Body massaging must be made by applying the right amount of pressure to the individual physique in order to sense the soothing touch. Regular massage therapy will act as a catalyst to your health by removing stress and aiding in the removal of aches and pains. It will bring fresh oxygen to body tissues, improve the blood flow and decimate waste from the body; improving the skin as well as muscle tone. Seniors can benefit from this as well, often finding that it assists them in improving strength and muscle coordination.

It is your health and you need to take care of it! When you reduce your mental strain, muscle tension and remove energy blockages, you will obviously feel much healthier. Massage has always been a good boost for the energy levels as well as a promoter of good mental health. You will feel the effects of the massage almost immediately after taking advantage of this health promoting therapy. Go on, relax!

How To Choose The Right Physical Therapy Table

The main objectives of physical therapy are to promote body
strength, function and mobility and prevent future physical
injury. This is achieved through the physical therapy itself as
well as through teaching patients safe exercising and movement
techniques to avoid potential injury and protect joints. There
are many types of physical therapy that include orthopedic,
geriatric, rehabilitation, pediatric, pulmonary, cardiac and
neurological physical therapy.

One of the general needs of all physical therapy facilities
include tables. The types of tables needed in physical therapy
office are usually much different than the standard exam tables
often found in other physicians' offices. Just as there are many
types of physical therapy, there are many types of therapy
tables designed for many varied purposes depending on the needs
of your particular clientèle. You may find it beneficial to have
general all-purpose physical therapy tables within the office.
However, often there are particular needs that are not met with
standard tables, and you will need much more specialized
physical therapy tables for your particular patients.

Take special note of the main focus of your office to assess
the physical therapy needs of your patients. This will greatly
aid in the decision of the tables needed for your office, and
help you make the appropriate decision. For example, is the
therapy mainly performed in your office in need of stationary
tables or would adjustable tables be more beneficial? Do your
physical therapists travel or perform home heath visits? If so,
you may need to invest in special portable tables.

Often you may have many patients with mobility issues,
especially if working with orthopedic, geriatric or intense
rehabilitation patients. If this is the case, you'll do best to
look into the wide variety of tables designed for those with
these particular medical issues that accommodate wheelchairs and
other common mobility devices. Depending on the types of therapy
performed within your practice, you may need flat tables,
positioning tables, mat tables, tilt top tables, inversion
tables or specialized hydraulic tables.

Once you've determined your patients needs depending on your
main clientèle and are highly familiar with the types of therapy
performed within your office, it will become quite evident the
best types of tables to suit your needs. Often you may find that
you need many different types of tables within the same office
to handle the wide variety of physical therapy performed in your
facility. This is quite common in less specialized practices
that perform many different functions to the many different
types of patients they may see in their office.

If you are looking to purchase tables, be sure to spend plenty
of time becoming fully informed of the types of physical therapy
being performed at your facility. This is especially important
if you are not a physical therapist yourself. You'll want to
spend plenty of time consulting with and observing the physical
therapists within your facility to get a well-rounded idea of
their daily needs to best treat the patients on a daily basis.
You can also contact other similar offices for their input. The
more time you spend evaluating your patients needs and the
treatments used for their types of therapy, the more beneficial
your table choices will be both financially and medically.

The Facts on Physical Therapy

Physical therapy is most often prescribed for patients with permanent disabilities, recovering from a major injury or accident, or suffering from conditions such as arthritis or lower back pain. Some diseases or conditions can impair patients to a degree that a physical therapist must teach the patient to function with the limitations of the condition. Under the guidance of a therapist, patients can regain a major share of their mobility, achieve flexibility, and acquire balance and coordination. At its very core, physical therapy can help significant improve the overall fitness and health of a patient.

As with any treatment, the effectiveness of physical therapy requires the full participation and adherence to the physical therapy treatment. Often, patients become proficient in their exercise regimen and make the assumption their recovery can be accomplished without the support and guidance of their physical therapist. Such decisions can actually cause more damage to the existing injuries. True physical therapy requires time and patience to achieve the best results.

Monitoring a patient's progress, trained therapists can correct any errors in posturing or practice by the patient. Therapists will often make adjustments to the exercise program as the patient improves in health and strength. Complete recovery is achieved through diligence, compliance, and dedication, which requires continued interactive between the patient and therapist.

During treatment, a physical therapist may use a combination of passive and active methods to bring about pain relief. These include heat/ice packs, ultrasound, low-impact aerobic conditioning, and stretching, to name a few. TENS therapy is also an effective tool to manage pain. The small, battery-operated device delivers low-voltage electrical currents through the skin via electrodes placed near the source of pain. The electricity from the electrodes stimulates nerves in the affected area, sending signals to the brain that "scramble" normal pain perception.
One of the most common ailments for those seeking physical therapy is back pain. According to the American Chiropractic Association, 31 million Americans experience low-back pain at any give time. It is one of the most common reasons for missed work and is the second most common reason for visits to the doctor's office.

A series of complicated structure of bones, joints, ligaments, and muscles, the back can easily experience a sprain or ruptured disk. Sometimes the simplest of movements, such as bending over to pick a pencil up off of the floor, can have painful results. Poor posture, obesity, and stress can also cause or complicate back pain.

While there is no single type of physical therapy which can alleviate chronic back pain, it can offer a world of benefits. It can also prevent further problems before they arise. Overall, physical therapy can increase function and improve the quality of life for someone suffering from back pain.

Rather than promising an instant "cure all," physical therapy teacher patients how to manage their own pain. Patients learn to cope with the pain while minimizing the impact of the pain in their lives. The best results for physical therapy come as a result of patients who can take control of their condition and not expect a miracle cure.

Increasing function and improving quality of life through movement is the heart of PT, according to Dr. Scott Fisherman, Chief of the Division of Pain Medicine and Associate Professor of Anesthesiology at the University of California, Davis. After gaining a good perspective on a patient's overall health, attitude, and daily routine, the therapist can judge a patient's progress and control over his or her own pain.

Together, the patient and therapist will map out a program of activities designed to address each of the impairments caused by the pain. The best sign of success of physical therapy is a noticeable improvement in a patient's daily activities and the ability to reclaim a normal routine.

Now available for home use to soothe the aches and pains associated with arthritis, psoriasis, tired joints and sore muscles from an active lifestyle. Thousands have benefited from the pain relieving power of these safe, natural, non-prescription treatments. http://www.acheaway.com

Physical Therapy Equipment & Exercise Tips

Physical therapy equipment was once thought to be exclusively
for the use of injured professional athletes, but now, many
people are entering into the exercise world. As more and older
people begin to lead more active lives, injuries are sure to
increase, as will the need for physical therapy, but physical
therapy is not just for those who have sports injuries, it is
also a means of recovering from any major injury or illness.
Those who have had surgery, nerve damage, or even some severe
burns, are all candidates to use the physical therapy equipment
found in a therapist's office. Much of this equipment can also
be brought home for the patient to continue his rehabilitation
away from the office.

It will be likely that the patient will need his own set of the
same sort of physical therapy equipment found in the therapist's
office. Some pieces are more convenient than others for home
use. Among these are resistance bands, ankle and wrist weights,
and finger and hand exercisers. The patient will still need
supervision when using resistance bands to ensure that he has
the proper form. This will prevent further injury. Other pieces
of equipment the patient is likely to encounter at the office
are exercise pulley and stretching equipment, balance boards,
and exercise balls. These all require a second person to oversee
the exercises since serious injury could result from their
misuse.

The patient should work to rebuild muscle tone which is often
lost during the non-use of the resting period following the
injury or surgery. This requires that the patient works
carefully with the physical therapy equipment to do the proper
exercises to avoid further injury or harm. By paying attention
to the therapist, the patient will be able to replicate the
exercises at home. All of the exercises will need to be done
under the supervision of the therapist or another qualified
spotter. This ensures that the patient has the proper form and
is doing the activity to gain its full benefits.

Too often, patients feel that the exercises prescribed on the
physical therapy equipment are too easy. This should serve as a
red flag to the therapist that the patient might be performing
the activities incorrectly. Physical therapy's goal is to
provide resistance in order to rebuild lost muscle and strength.
Consequently, the patient should feel that he is working the
muscles targeted. If he does not feel that the muscle is being
fully used, he is likely compensating by using improper form.
This does not aid in rehabilitation, and it will lengthen the
required amount of time for the physical therapy.

Its is strongly recommended that warming up and stretching are
done prior to any physical activity and should also become
integral parts of your physical therapy routine. Stretching with
exercise balls for example, will improve flexibility and
strength of your muscles and joints, while warming up with a
jump rope will increase your blood flow and circulation. Both of
these coupled with appropriate physical therapy exercise
equipment will contribute towards increasing the chances of full
recovery and minimizing the possibilities of future injuries.
Since certain stretching and warm up exercises may have a n
adverse affect on your physical therapy recuperation process,
always consult with your therapist before starting any new
routines.

Stressed Out? Find a Massage Therapist that will Come to You

It's easy to get a little stressed out in big cities like Los Angeles. Just thinking about the daily commute to, well, anywhere is enough to drive a peaceful mind into a chaotic panic.

Massage therapy is an ancient art that, like all arts, has a multitude of styles to suit your specific needs no matter what muscles tense up and where, or what type of stress you are feeling.

Relax! Los Angeles Massage Therapists are at Your Fingertips

Getting a massage is a great way to release tension that builds up throughout the day or over the course of a work week. Getting through your weekend with all the built up tension and stress from work just isn't good for you.

Rather than searching through the yellow pages and calling every Los Angeles massage therapist that is listed for rates, availability, experience, expertise, whether they service your area, and everything else you need to know to ensure a quality massage, you can do the same without the phone calls thanks to the increasing popularity of online directories that help you find local help for nearly anything you need whether it's for a plumber, TV repairman, custom tailor, and yes, even massage therapists from Los Angeles to New York and everywhere in between.

What is an Online Directory?

Even if you don't know what an online directory is, you've probably used one before without even realizing it. Online directories abound on the Internet right now.

If you've ever used the online yellow pages, then you're already a veteran of online directories. But in addition to the online yellow pages, which doesn't have any particular specialty, specialty directories focus on just one thing -- massage therapists for example.

The advantage of a specialized directory is that you are likely to have access to a much wider variety of whatever it is you're looking for, and will be provided with more detailed information.

Using an Online Directory to Relax Your Back

Getting a great massage in Los Angeles from someone with the mythical "magic fingers" is easier than you think. Typically, the easiest way to find a specialty directory is to search for it via your favorite search engine. To find a massage therapist locally, a search along the lines of "directory of massage therapists in Los Angeles" should do the trick. Once you've found a directory, a good one will allow you to punch in your zip code to produce a list of dozens of local massage therapists no matter where you live.

If the programmers of the online directory have really done their job, then you can simply click any of the listed massage therapist profiles to learn everything you need to know. In just a few minutes, you'll be able to find the perfect massage. Whether you're looking for the most experienced, lowest cost, or for a therapist that is expert in a specific massage type, you'll be able to find what you want in minutes.

MyMassageTherapists.com (http://www.mymassagetherapists.com) is perhaps the largest massage therapist directory available. In addition to Los Angeles massage therapists, MyMassageTherapists.com has listings for virtually every city in the U.S. No matter where you live.

The Importance of Physical Therapy

Physical therapy is an exercise treatment methodology aimed at the treatment and curing of certain physical ailments, through exercise and stretching. While at the same time preventing the chances of any re-occurrences further on down the road. Its primary aim is to bring back the patient to his/her normal self, free from pain or suffering, so that he/she can then lead a normal life; performing all of their daily activities with minimal or no difficulty. Physical therapy deals with cardiopulmonary and neurological conditions as well.

Physical therapy is generally required for those with permanent disabilities, those who have had a major injury or accident and are in a recuperation phase, or for those who are suffering from crippling diseases such as arthritis, lower back pain, or cerebral palsy. In certain instances, some diseases or medical conditions impair the patient so much that it becomes necessary to teach them how to function within the limitations of their condition, by building upon the residual capabilities left.

With prolonged treatment under the supervision of an expert physiatrist, it is possible for the patient to regain a major share of the mobility of his/her joints, achieve flexibility, and acquire better balance and coordination. Apart from this, physical therapy also helps in significantly improving the overall fitness and health of the patient.

Children with issues such as developmental delays or muscle and joint weaknesses that happen early in life can also benefit from physical therapy. In such cases, a physiatrist usually depends upon a variety of techniques such as strength training, balance and coordination exercises, stretching exercises, ultrasound therapies, and electrical stimulation of the affected body parts along with massage to help the child build better physical strength. However the exact methods to be used are decided by the physiatrist after diagnosing the child.

For it to be effective, it is important that the patient also respond positively to the treatment, and for that to happen he/she needs to be in a positive frame of mind and not in a saddened mindset. Therefore physical therapy also includes efforts to motivate the patient to make sure that he/she remains in a positive mindset during the session.

In order to receive the full benefits of physical therapy, it is important that the patient follow the instructions of the physiatrist. In many cases, after a few sessions, people think that they know the exercises well enough and can do the rehabilitation quite effectively without any external help. However, such acts generally cause more damage to the existing injury than providing any real benefits.

An injury needs time to heal itself and physical therapy allows this to happen. Equally important are the conditions this is achieved under, and a patient needs to undergo treatment within the most perfect way possible. A physiatrist who monitors the progress can correct a problem if there is an error in the posturing or practice, and he/she periodically redesigns the exercise program accordingly as the patient gets better or improves in health and strength.

None of this would be possible if the patient tries to manage the rehabilitation program him/herself. Remember, the final result or complete recovery through physical therapy is a combination of diligence, compliance, and dedication, and that requires continued interaction and coordination between the patient and the physiatrist.

Physical therapy is hugely effective in treating injured joints, bones, muscle weaknesses, and many neurological ailments, but it must be done in the proper way, under the supervision of an able physiatrist or else, it will not produce the desired results.

Use Of Physical Therapy Tables In Rehabilitative Therapy Programs

Physical therapy tables are necessary fixtures for every
therapy program. Physical therapy tables are utilized to augment
more than just physical therapy programs, but pediatric therapy
programs, geriatric therapy programs, neurological therapy
programs and others. The physical therapy tables in our
inventory are designed to accommodate the needs of almost every
patient, whether they're in a wheelchair or require the use of
walkers or other mobility aids. Each physical therapy table is
easy to move, simple to adjust, and the crank handles on the
physical therapy tables are retractable so they won't present an
obstacle or hazard to either patient or healthcare provider. The
physical therapy tables we carry are simply vital for any
rehabilitation program and physical therapy procedure.

The purpose of physical therapy is to help patients regain the
use of their muscles, bones, and nervous system through the use
of exercise equipment, heat therapy, cold therapy, massagers,
whirlpool baths, among a myriad of other techniques. Every
physical therapy treatment plan attempts to relieve pain,
improve strength and mobility, and train patients to perform
necessary tasks in order to resume their everyday lifestyles.
Physical therapy is often prescribed to rehabilitate a patient
after many injuries, illnesses, and disease such as:

- Amputations
- Arthritis
- Burns
- Cancer
- Cardiac Disease
- Cervical and Lumbar Dysfunction
- Neurological Problems
- Orthopedic Injuries
- Pulmonary Disease
- Spinal Cord Injuries
- Stroke
- Traumatic Brain Injuries

The duration of any physical therapy program varies depending
on the severity of the injury or illness being treated as well
as the patient's response to therapy.

Physical therapy tables are commonly used in exercise regimens,
the best known and most widely used form of physical therapy.
Depending on the patient's condition, exercises may be performed
alone or with the assistance of a therapist. An exercise regimen
will incorporate rehabilitation & exercise equipment including
physical therapy tables, floor mats, stationary bicycles,
walkers, wheelchairs, practice stairs, parallel bars, and pulley
weights among others.

Physical therapy programs also incorporate hot & cold
therapies. Heat therapy can be applied with compresses, paraffin
wax therapy, or by soaking in a whirlpool. This strategy aims to
stimulate a patient's circulation, relax muscles, and relieve
pain. Cold therapy can be applied with ice or soaking. As well,
massagers can help improve circulation, relieve pain and muscle
spasms, reduce swelling, and help the patient to simply relax.
Electrotherapy may also be used to stimulate muscle and make
them contract, helping weakened or paralyzed muscles respond
again.

Geriatric physical therapy encompasses a broad area of issues
that concern people as they age, but is typically focused on the
elderly. There are conditions that affect many people as they
grow older including arthritis, osteoporosis, cancer,
Alzheimer's disease, hip and joint replacement, balance
disorders, and more. The use of physical therapy treatment
tables in geriatric physical therapy will help restore
dexterity, movement, cognizance, object recognition, and more.

Neurological physical therapy focuses on individuals with a
neurological disorder or disease, including cerebral palsy,
Alzheimer's, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's, stroke, spinal
cord injuries, and others. Common problems associated with
neurological disorders include vision impairment, poor balance,
paralysis, and loss of functional independence. Therapists use
physical therapy treatment tables to work with patients to
improve these areas of dysfunction.

Pediatric physical therapy uses a wide variety of modalities to
treat disorders in children. Physical therapy tables will be
utilized as work stations to improve motor skills, coordination,
as well as cognitive and sensory processing. Children with
developmental delays, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, and
torticollis are a few of the patients treated by pediatric
physical therapists.

Magnificent Massage: The Health Benefits of Bodywork

With experts estimating that nearly ninety percent of disease is stress related, now more than ever it's imperative that Americans make the most of self-care options available today to help decrease and manage stress levels. Massage, the application of soft-tissue manipulation techniques to the body, has shown to reduce stress and fatigue while improving circulation. Massage helps to decrease anxiety, enhance sleep quality, provide energy, improve concentration, and more. For the everyday American, as well as sufferers of chronic conditions, this translates into a proven method for managing pain and stress.

According to the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, massage therapy is a practice dating back thousands of years. References to its uses have been found in ancient writings from Ancient Greece, Ancient Rome, Japan, China, and Egypt. Massage therapy first became popular in the United States in the mid-1800s for a variety of health purposes, complemented with the mineral essentials of natural hot spring resorts so fashionable at the time. It fell out of favor in the 1930s due to advances in other medical treatments at that time. However, it made a return in the 1970s, due in some part to athletes who discovered its benefits in preparing for, or recovering from, strenuous workouts.

Massage is used in both conventional and alternative medicine therapies. There are more than 80 types of massage therapy, and in all of them, therapists apply pressure and movement with the use of their hands and fingers mostly. However, forearms, elbows, and feet may also be a part a therapist's technique. The well-known Swedish massage uses long strokes, kneading and finger pressure on tight or knotted muscles. Trigger point massage utilizes deeper, more focused pressure on knots that form in muscles. Shiatsu massage applies varying, rhythmic pressure from the fingers on parts of the body that are believed to be key to the flow of vital energy called chi.

Perhaps the two most obvious benefits of massage are increased circulation and flexibility. Designed to work independently of one another, as muscles dehydrate, their fibers stick together resulting in stiffness. With the use of massage, fluid is reintroduced, softening the muscles and allowing for flexibility. Increased circulation in between the muscle fibers allow nutrients to reach the cells and for toxins to be carried away more efficiently. Dehydrated muscle fibers also cause a lack of circulation which leads to a decrease in oxygen to the muscles. This in turn causes pain to the affected area. Professional massage, combined with adequate dehydration (8 to 10 glasses of water per day), can relive areas of pain and increase flexibility.

Additional benefits of massage are far reaching. Massage therapy has been successfully combined with rehabilitation programs as a treatment for chronic conditions including back pain and arthritis, as well as injuries associated with exercise or injury. Other chronic conditions such as depression, anxiety, smoking cessation, and high blood pressure have been greatly aided with the use of professional massage.

Research studies show that massage therapy also reduces heart rate, lowers blood pressure, and increases endorphins. Although therapeutic massage does not increase muscle strength, it can stimulate inactive muscles and partially compensate for the lack of exercise and inactivity resulting from illness or injury. Research has also indicated that office workers who receive massages regularly perform better and with less stress than those who weren't massaged.

In children, massage therapy creates body awareness from head to toe, as well as relieve growing pains in older children. Studies also show massage for children can aide in digestion and constipation. Premature infants receiving massage reportedly gained more weight and fared better than those babies who did not receive massage. Bodywork therapy has also show to be beneficial for autistic children, who displayed less erratic behavior following a massage.

"Often times people are stressed in our culture," said Dr. Joan Borysenko in a Massage Journal interview. "Stress-related disorders make up between 80-90 percent of the ailments that bring people to family-practice physicians". One of the complaints heard frequently is that physicians don't touch their patients any more. Years ago, massage was a big part of nursing. Now nurses for the most part are as busy as physicians. I believe massage therapy is absolutely key to the healing process not only in the hospital environment but because it relieves stress, it is obviously foundational in the healing process anytime and anywhere."

Do Electronic Muscle Stimulators Work For Weight Loss, Body Building Or Physical Therapy?

Using electronic muscle stimulators for body building provides
nerve and flexor training for the muscles and seems to allow the
muscle tissue to grow at a rate comparable to simple exercise.
However, with the stimulators the body goes without the
after-pain associated with strenuous weight training exercises.
In this way the electronic muscle stimulators can help the body
building enthusiast to better control the level of pain that is
felt after a workout. Some people with problem areas such as
sore shoulder muscles can use the stimulators to help alleviate
the pain before the next session of exercising.

The same applies to anyone looking to lose weight with
electronic muscle stimulator use. While the stimulator may help
to alleviate the pain sometimes associated with weight loss
exercising, the unit itself will most likely have very little to
do with actual weight loss. However, by helping the person
control any pain associated with the exercising, the stimulator
may, in fact, help these people to exercise more. They will then
have a better chance at losing more weight.

Electronic muscle stimulators have been thoroughly proven to
help with physical therapy where nerve and muscle damage has
occurred. Many therapists highly recommend the use of these
units when their patients routinely complain of sore muscles
during and after exercise workouts, or have some form of nerve
damage that prevents them from getting the most out of life.

The effective use of these electronic muscle stimulators
depends a lot on the type of patient and the nerve or muscle
damage they may be suffering from. In general use, the
stimulator units can be used easily by the patients themselves
after only a few minutes of training. In this way, the patients
control the amount of voltage used and the rhythm cycle that
controls the rate of muscle contractions. Many health spas and
gyms have electronic muscle stimulators on hand to help
alleviate any sudden pain or muscle spasms that their customers
may have while exercising. It's fairly easy to become adept at
using these units and many people swear by the relief that these
units give them from their muscle and nerve pain.

Many manufacturers of these electronic muscle stimulators are
quick to point out the safety and value of their products when
it comes to weight loss or muscle building. How would a company
stay in business if it didn't promote its own products? Many
federal departments have done exhaustive tests on these
electronic muscle stimulators and have found that very few of
them do anything at all in the way of weight loss. The results
from using one of these units for weight loss is comparable to
not using one at all, proving that the units are ineffective at
best. In fact, they may end up being harmful if overused to
stimulate out-of-shape muscle and fat tissue. Because the
stimulators contract the muscles, many people believe that this
motion causes the body to lose weight, but it is simply not
true.

Water Therapy

Water exercise therapy is an especially helpful back pain remedy. The buoyancy of the water is to the advantage of the affected person as there is less pain exercising in the water than exercising on land. Professional assistance from a licensed physical therapist is often required before you can perform any of the complicated exercise maneuvers involved.

On the other hand, hydrotherapy is a back pain remedy that aims to relieve pain by loosening the muscles and ridding the body of toxins that cause pain and inflammation. Several studies have shown that soaking in a hot tub or warm bath as a form of back pain remedy will lessen stiffness, increase flexibility, and reduce the amount of pain medication used. In addition to hot baths, this back pain remedy may also include douches, sauna or steam baths, and wraps with herbal additives.

If you don't enjoy this therapy, you can always go for a massage therapy. Just check with the health centers as most of them do offer massage services for their club members.

Health Benefits of Massage

More and more Americans are turning to massage to relieve the stresses of everyday life. It is pleasant and relaxing to receive an aromatherapy massage in a quiet spa. However, massage actually can have significant health benefits beyond the simple relaxation of a basic spa massage.

Massage therapy has been proven to reduce the amounts of the stress hormone cortisol in the body. Cortisol is the hormone that causes the symptoms of stress including muscle pain, irritability, headaches and other physical symptoms. Digestion, which is often directly affected by stress, can be improved by application of regular massages.

Additionally, some scientists suspect that massage may release endorphins which produce a "high" or a sense of well-being similar to that which is achieved by exercise. Because of this effect, massage therapy has been particularly useful in helping arthritis patients who may not be able to exercise regularly. Massage can also help arthritis patients improve the range of motion in their joints.

Massage may also help improve circulation. It is theorized that the stroking motion of massage encourages healthy blood flow and assists in clearing toxins from the blood. The stroking motion may also assist the flow of lymph fluid. Lymph fluid bolsters the body's immune system, leading to increased resistance to disease.

Shiatsu massage, which uses some of the same principles as acupuncture, tai chi and other types of Chinese medicine can be used to treat more specific illnesses. Unlike a regular massage session at a spa, a shiatsu practitioner will take your medical history and ask you questions about specific symptoms, diet and exercise. Some of the conditions treated by shiatsu massage include asthma, menstrual cramps, arthritis, insomnia and constipation.

Ayurvedic massage is a 5,000 tradition of holistic healing including massage. Ayurvedic massage places emphasis on using scented oils and healing herbs to heal and relax the body. People can learn how to give themselves an Ayurvedic massage which, if performed in the morning, can increase vitality, circulation and stamina throughout the day.

Certain people should avoid all types of massage. These include people with open wounds or rashes, people with circulatory disorders, people who have had recent surgery and people with a history of blood clots. People with cancer should avoid massage following radiation or chemotherapy treatment and should avoid direct massage of any area with a tumor. Pregnant women are advised to avoid abdominal massage during the first three months of pregnancy.

The Beauty And Delight Of A Foot Massage

A foot massage is one of the most delightful things that you
will ever experience.

You may have has an exquisite back massage at some point during
your life; however, until you have experienced a superior a foot
massage then you simply do not know what you are missing. Your
feet carry you everywhere you want to go. The stress and strain
that is applied to your feet on a daily basis is unbelievable.
Your feet deserve the extra pampering you can provide, so the
next time that you decide a back massage is just the thing you
need, think about getting a foot massage instead.

With the feet, it is easy to get a massage. You can either
give your self a soothing foot massage or you can ask your
friend or lover to do it for you. A foot massage can also be
turned into a sensual event if it is something you are enjoying
with your partner. Begin by thoroughly cleaning your feet. A
warm soak in Epsom salts, peppermint oil or lavender is the
perfect way to get started.

Then dry your feet thoroughly making sure to spend the extra
time to dry between each toe. As soon as your feet are dry
select a scented foot oil to apply to your feet. Support the
foot you are working on with one hand, pour a small amount of
oil into your other hand and gently begin to massage the oil
into your foot. Of course, this is a lot more fun if your
partner will provide this foot treat for you.

Using your thumbs, begin on the top of the foot at the toes and
use slow, firm, and stroking motions to move upwards towards the
ankle. This movement is a little bit like using your thumbs to
knead bread. Remember to vary the pressure that you use as it
provides a more enjoyable experience and helps to get the blood
flow circulating.

Once you reach the ankles, then retrace your steps back to your
toes. Again, using very slow, stroking motions you as are
working to provide the delectable foot massage. Pressure
applied to the toes should be less than that which is applied to
the ankle. Use this same slow action from the toes to the ankle
and back again making several passes.

Next, with your hand in a cupped position, gently sit the heel
of your foot in your hand. With your free hand holding the top
of your foot gently rotate your foot slowly from side to side,
then begin to rotate your float clockwise and counterclockwise
using slow and deliberate movements.

Repeat these motions several times in order to relax your feet
and ankle joints. Remember to use slow and gentle movements so
that you do not put additional strain on your joints. It would
be awful to end up injuring yourself while trying to enjoy the
something as simple as a foot massage.

When you finish rotating the foot be sure to pamper the soles
of your feet. The soles of your feet take a real pounding and
so the extra attention you can provide will reap big rewards.
Beginning at the base of the toes and working towards the heel
of the foot use a kneading and stroking motion to provide relief
for the soles of the feet.

Taking the time to enjoy a gentle foot massage or to exchange
one with your partner is a thing of beauty. It can provide a
great deal of stress reduction, it can improve circulation and
blood flow to your feet and it can help you to genuinely relax
after a long day at work. Your feet have a tough job and after
all they deserve a bit of pampering too. A foot massage is
something that you really should not live another day without
experiencing. Enjoy!

Massage for Sleep

Massage can be very effective for helping babies sleep
deeper and for longer periods of time - which can translate
into you being able to sleep longer as well. Sometimes all
night!

Not only does massage help your baby to release stress
which builds daily from new experiences, it allows your
baby to relax.

Here are some tips so you can start using infant massage
right now:

• Keep baby warm and cover areas you will not be massaging.
You can massage over clothing (without oil).

• Before you begin, talk in a calm voice and smile at her.
This will help stimulate her senses and make her feel more
comfortable. Relax and take your time.

• Always ask out loud "Would you like your bedtime massage
now?" Wait for baby's answer and respond appropriately.

• Warm your hands by rubbing them together. This will help
her to recognize this cue as "massage time".

• Allow baby to move to different positions if she chooses
to.

• Continue massage only as long as you and baby are
enjoying it

At bedtime, you want to focus on using relaxing strokes.
Relaxing strokes are those which move away from the heart.
Being careful not to over stimulate at bedtime is best, so
using only a few strokes can work wonders.

Start by placing your warmed hands gently around the top of
baby's leg at the hip, cupping her leg, gently stroke
downward towards her foot. Do not put any pressure on
baby's knee or ankle. Then stroke the bottom of her foot
and gently hug each little toe. Next kiss her feet, babies
love this! Repeat on the opposite leg.

Go ahead and move on to her arms. Repeat the same soothing
strokes. While doing massage, continue to make eye contact
and check in with her. If you like singing or telling
stories, go for it. Whatever makes you both feel relaxed
is great!

If she is still enjoying her massage, continue. If not,
feel free to let her be the boss. Babies are really good
at letting us know when they've had enough.

Now, move on to her back. Stroke her back, starting at the
shoulders, over bum and down the legs, showing extra care
not to put any pressure on her spine. Continue stroking
her back a few times.

Now, give her a hug and kiss goodnight.

The first time you give your baby a massage, she may only
like to have a few minutes. This is perfectly normal.
Make sure you check in with the boss, your baby, and soon
you will be experiencing more restful nights!

Health Benefits Of Massages Therapy

The last three decades have seen a huge resurgence in the
popularity of massages therapy, and its healing effects on the
body. No longer considered something tawdry, the people of
America are embracing massages therapy and its various forms, to
help them live their day to day lives without pain. Fifty
percent of all people who visit registered massage therapists
are men, and the most common reason for anyone to visit a
massage therapist is for relief from stress.

Our lives in the 21st century are deemed to be the most
stressful in all of history. We work longer hours than ever
before, endure long commutes to and from work, and then sit in
often cramped offices for most of the day. Coupled with this are
the effects of our western extravagant lifestyles, it is no
wonder that so many of us in the United States live in permanent
fight or flight mode. This is why various massages therapy
techniques can be beneficial to people's health to get relief
from all the stresses.

The United States Department of Health studies on stress and
the effects it has on the human body are startling. Unless we
learn to relax, stress can and will kill us, and is certainly
the biggest factor in heart attacks and strokes. When we spend
too long in fight or flight mode, our bodies trigger a release
of endorphins that help us fight a stressful situation. When
that situation is concluded, our bodies show signs of
exhaustion, and then we become stressed again due to our lack of
energy.

When we are stressed we begin to breathe small shallow breaths.
The result of shallow breathing is not enough air getting to our
tissues and muscles. When this occurs we begin to feel tension
in our necks, calve muscles, our backs may seem to seize up, and
our stomachs begin to ache. While making continued efforts to
reduce the stress in our day to day lives by changing our
circumstances is terribly important, having a massages therapy
can be an immediate way to improve circulation while healing
sore muscles.

The most common and widely practiced form of massage given by a
registered massage therapist is Swedish massage. This gentle
massage is most commonly used for stress related ailments such
as a stiff neck, aching back, and to relieve physical pain from
emotional problems. Health related studies have proved that when
we are traumatized our hearts really do hurt and we can
experience genuine heart ache characterized by pains in the
chest.

Swedish massage performed by a Massage Therapist is
characterized by five deep strokes across our chests. A
therapist begins by placing their hands just under our first
ribs and applying gentle pressure with the fingertips, they
sweep the skin from our ribs in a downwards movement to our
waist. This technique is done five times on the chest, before
turning to the neck and doing five smaller strokes from the nape
to the top of the spinal column, and is then repeated on the
back.

If any knots are found in the muscles while Swedish massage is
being performed a massage therapist will apply hard pressure
with their fingertips to release the knots. This sometimes
painful practice is referred to as deep tissue massage and is
often used in conjunction with Swedish massage, to help the flow
of blood properly circulate through the tissues and muscles to
reduce stress and promote relaxation.

Massage & Massage Therapy: The Fountain of Youth.

The traditional view of the fountain of youth is wrapped up
in the mystical notion of ancient secrets and rites being
passed down through generations of Tibetan monks living a
life of blissful solitude somewhere high up in the
Himalayas… Unfortunately, this romantic notion has been
hijacked by some very persuasive advertising from cosmetic
companies who'd have us believe that they've discovered the
secrets of the fountain of youth, and that the fast track
to looking young and youthful is only ever a pill or a
potion away.

Don't get me wrong, I fork out far too much money on
lotions and potions myself, so I'm not immune to the power
of a good anti wrinkle cream sales pitch. (I'm not sure
about the pills though!)

Where I part company with the lotions and potions
fraternity though, is that I believe the fountain of youth
really does exist, I just happen to have a more abstract
view of it.

Certainly lotions and potions have a role to play in terms
of moisturising and cleansing, but I'm afraid I can't quite
believe that they have age-reversing properties.

It really is one of life's great truths that beauty lies
within. And the person who appreciates that fact is already
on to a winner. If you think you're beautiful then you are.
Having this level of acceptance comes from having a good
appreciation of who you are and offers a glimpse at your
level of self-esteem.

Unfortunately having high self-esteem is not the norm for
the vast majority of us, which leads to quick and
comforting fixes such as the aforementioned lotions,
potions and pills.

If I really had to offer my own opinion, I'd suggest that
the fountain of youth is flowing within us all. Our
thoughts lay the foundations of our own self worth and in
case you didn't know it, you can control them. Weed out the
negatives and encourage the positives. Eat healthy foods,
take regular exercise and look in the mirror and tell
yourself you're beautiful.

Go a step further and give yourself a helping hand. Give
yourself a massage. Start with a facial and when your
confidence improves, go for a full massage. Massage
enhances the skin condition by improving the function of
the sebaceous and sweat glands, which keep the skin
lubricated, clean, and cool. (and young looking!) In
addition, by giving yourself a massage, you will be
igniting and releasing naturally occurring wonder drugs
called endorphins which induce a wonderful state of
euphoria. There are few other therapies that produce such
positive and potentially life changing results as massage
and massage therapy. Results can be dramatic or subtle,
visible or invisible but always beneficial. Your mind and
body will feel invigorated and if you do this often enough,
your self-esteem and wellbeing will skyrocket.

If there is such a thing as the fountain of youth, then for
me, a healthy balanced diet, taking regular exercise and
simply liking yourself, amount to drinking from that very
fountain. (told you I had an abstract view) Good luck on
your quest.

To your continued, outstanding health.

P.S. Don't be afraid to slap on some so called age-reducing
lotion or potion and don't beat yourself up either, after
all, you're only human.

The Benefits of Swedish Massage Therapy

While some people think of fancy salons and spas when they hear the name Swedish Massage Therapy, it is simply a method of massage that is readily available even in the office of a chiropractor. There are many benefits associated with a Swedish massage, and we will explore some of them here.

The Swedish massage is one of the most common forms of massage in the USA and is quite the standard. It is also known as a therapeutic type massage and is an overall method that helps the whole body.

So what is a Swedish massage exactly? Simply - a set and variety of techniques or methods that help to achieve relaxation of the muscles and to help achieve a better and increased rate of circulation.

The main use or purpose of a Swedish massage is:
- Helps to release toxins from the body's muscles
- Help to increase oxygen flow

How is this massage method applied? Basically the Swedish massage utilizes techniques that apply stokes with pressure expressly applied in the direction as the blood would flow as it returns to a person's heart. The pressure is applied to bones and muscles with various types of techniques. These techniques are:
- Shaking motions
- Tapping
- Friction
- Effleurage
- Vibration
- Kneading
- Long strokes

Each of these methods or techniques of the massage has a stroke that can offer benefits in different ways. And these can be further defined as 5 main strokes such as:
- Gliding which is called Effleurage
- Rubbing which is called Friction
- Kneading which is called Petrissage
- Pounding which is called Tapotement
- Shaking which is called Vibration

First the therapist would attempt to concentrate on relaxation which would utilize gliding the palms, fingertips, or thumbs. This would be the Effleurage stroke. Further they would use kneading with the fingers, thumbs, or hands and this would be the Petrissage stroke. Along with this, the therapist would use lotions and or oils to help the technique. The process usually involves a body massage covering the whole body that ranges from between 1 hour to 1.5 hours.

With the Effleurage stroke, the ultimate goal is to find the muscles that are tense and this provides an individual time to get comfortable as they lie face down and are massaged from the neck all the way down the back to the end of the spinal column.

While with the Petrissage stroke, the therapist is striving for the achievement of a deeper relaxation and works to Warm-Up the person body for more intense massage. This technique will involve the muscles being moved or lifted away and upward from the bones. This will help to figure out how much or how deep the pressure applied will need to be. This will possibly lead to other massage strokes that will allow for various benefits. The many and various benefits of utilizing Swedish therapy are:
- Lowers blood pressure
- Increases circulation
- The mind and the body will relax
- Helps with digestion
- Can help to relieve colic
- Helps clear up congested lungs by breaking up mucus
- Helps to stimulate a slower breathing pattern
- Improves muscle flexibility
- Helps to improve the strength of the muscles
- Helps to ease tension and stiffness within the muscles

There are many more benefits to this form of massage with relaxation being a major player in this therapy. Furthermore a person can achieve better overall well being and health if they start receiving a Swedish massage program.

How Does Therapeutic Massage Work?

Therapeutic massage works primarily within the soft tissue of the body to bring relaxation and health from within. Depending on the massage that you receive, techniques may include stroking and kneading, as well as vibration, friction and percussion. Deeper massages are generally utilized for chronic muscle pain that goes farther into the muscle layers, while lighter massage will feel the best and bring on the most relaxation. Sometimes doctors will prescribe therapeutic massage to assist with the healing of an injury or to bring relief from chronic pain.

Therapeutic Massage For Healing And Relaxation

Therapeutic massage is just one of the types of massage techniques that people can select from when it comes to finding a way to relaxation and relief from pain. The factor that sets therapeutic massage apart from other techniques is that this type of massage can be a very effective healing tool as well. In fact, the techniques involved with these massages can be recommended as a part of a rehabilitation program for an injury, recovery from an illness or used to promote health within specific body systems.

What are the Benefits?

The benefits of any type of massage, including therapeutic massage, are many and far reaching. Massage maximizes the blood flow throughout the body, which will lead to increased energy and an overall feeling of health and well being. It can also relieve muscle and joint pain effectively, making therapeutic massage a good choice for those who suffer from a chronic illness or deal with chronic pain for a variety of reasons. The most obvious benefit of massage is the reduction of tension in the body and a better ability to relax and rest. This result can occur with even the most basic techniques of therapeutic massage.

Other benefits of massage that you would not necessarily think about first are your body's ability to flush out toxins more effectively. This benefit can be maximized by drinking plenty of water in the hours after receiving a massage. You can also enjoy a better regulated bowel function and more efficient drainage of the lymphatic system. While these benefits may not be as noticeable or measurable, they will undoubtedly contribute to your overall health and well being as a result of your therapeutic massage.

If you are suffering from an injury, chronic illness, or simply want to improve your health and well being, therapeutic massage may be the answer for you. Check with your doctor or on the Internet for a listing of certified massage therapists near you. One appointment will put you on the road to better health and a pain-free lifestyle.

Back Massage - The Ultimate Stress Reliever

As many of us are aware the lifestyles that we live tend to keep us on edge or stressed almost the entire day. To decompress or de-stress from this hectic pace there are dissimilar methods that can be used. Since our backs tend to take most of this feverish lifestyle demands having a back massage can untangle the assorted stress knots that have developed.

The back is often times the most vulnerable part of the body. Absorbing most of the stresses that we encounter on a daily basis. So, the idea is to take care of the back and it will take care of you.

To have a good back massage you can see a trained masseuse or have somebody that you know give you a simple back massage. For the best effects of the message you should be wearing a light cloth that covers your body where it is not being massaged.

When having a friend give you a massage be cautious and if something doesn't feel right stop doing it. This is especially true if they have little to no experience. This is no cause for alarm, just a friendly reminder.

Using a fragrant aromatherapy oils can help to relax any tense muscles during the back massage. You should select the oil that you like and one that has therapeutic healing abilities as well.

In a back massage you will need to lie down full length comfortably. The person who is giving you the rub down should either be upright or sitting next to your back. One hand should be placed at your lower back and the other hand is placed between your shoulder blades.

To start the back massage use the thumbs and softly press along the outsides of the spine. The back massage should begin at the base of the lower back and work its way up towards the neck. Make sure that the massage does not press into the support itself as injuries could occur.

Once the neck area has been reached a little bit of essential oil like Lavender should be poured on to your friend's hands. Leisurely in a gliding motion slide both of the hands down on each side of the back towards the pelvis. At the pelvis the hands need to be moved in an outward direction towards your hips.

Contact with the body should still be maintained right throughout this entire procedure. To continue getting the full effect of the back massage, your friend will need to start the massage up towards the neck area again. At this point a light kneading motion will need to be applied as your friend is moving their hands upwards to the neck.

This integral back massage treatment will need to be applied over the whole back area. When the back has been treated, the neck and shoulder areas can be given a massage. The massage handling for this area is applied in a circular motion.

This entire massage should be worked over the diverse areas that are deeply knotty and tense. When the entire back, shoulders and neck have been thoroughly rubbed and the oil has penetrated into the skin you will experience the restful feelings of a great back massage.

A back massage, when done properly, can rejuvenate you. Many have experienced higher energy levels after a massage. So, get back massages regularly and relieve yourself of the tension of the day.

Review Of The Panasonic Ep3222 Real Pro Elite Massage Chair Lounger

The Panasonic EP3222 Real Pro Elite massage recliner is the
first massage chair to earn the endorsement of the American
Chiropractic Association (ACA). It also is the first chair to
use Body Scanning Technology.

When you sit down in this chair and turn on the Body Scan
Technology, it tailors the massage for your personalized body
shape and weight. It detects areas of tension and stress to
help maximize relief and relaxation. Once the session has
begun, however, you cannot then change the shoulder height if it
is uncomfortable for your tolerance…but you can select to adjust
such features in a pre-set program.

This chair uses a full body air pressure system, with 33
durable air bags concurrently working together by inflating and
deflating in specific patterns and varying speeds to make your
tension and stress disappear within moments. With the air
pressure system taking care of your back, shoulders, hips,
thighs and seat, calves, and feet, that is a total of 614 square
inches of all over relaxation therapy. When you sit in the
3222, you really feel like you are a part of the chair.

Though this chair will recline to deeply melt away the stress
and pain of your daily regimen, due to the nature of the air
pressure, the air massage does not adequately `stretch' or
traction the back. That will be most effective from the dual
roller heads also designed into this chair, to manually move the
back thus creating space back in between the discs. So this
chair has been designed with both the Air Pressure System for
the main feature, along with duel or quad rollers working the
tense areas of your back, neck and shoulders, so as to
accommodate those with sensitive to the touch issues and chronic
pain. And because the air bags inflate and deflate, you can
customize the intensity of the massage being delivered to you.

Many people experience fatigue and tension due to their feet
and calves, and therefore feel more relaxed and renewed if their
feet and calves have been adequately massaged and stretched as
well. The Air Bag system delivers that to the user, contouring
around each individual's body type and arches of the feet,
curving, compressing, and kneading away stress.

This calf and foot feature works jointly, so you can't turn off
one and just experience the other. You will have both your
calves and feet massaged at the same time, or you can turn off
the system to only have your upper body, thighs and seat
massaged.

The Real Pro Elite takes out the thinking for you, and makes
your sessions easy with 5 pre-set programs to chose from with
varying techniques ranging from 4- 14 minute choices and a 5
minute invigorative session.

You can also customize the preferences and body scanning
customization by saving your preferences in one of 3 memory
programs. With the easy to use remote using an LED screen, and
voice guide prompting you and instructing you, you practically
just have to sit down to experience relief from whatever type of
day you have had.

With genuine leather fabric and quality design of the Panasonic
chair, this chair is designed to last for the long haul of
taking care of you. Most users experience over 1000 hours of
use from their Panasonic massage chairs before ever requiring
maintenance- that's comparable to a 15 minute massage every day
for 11 years!

The Art Of Massage Done Right Helps Reduce Stress, Pain And Accumulated Toxins

The art of massage has been around since time immemorial,
widely practiced since hundreds of years by the Chinese, Indians
and the Greeks. Though massage started off as a pain-relieving
technique, medial practitioners now recognize that it also
improves blood circulation by stimulating the lymphatic
response; it is also well known that massage helps the body in
throwing out accumulated toxins.

Massage is an ancient "bodywork" technique that is used to iron
out muscle stress and also to provide relief from pain by
applying pressure at sensitive points of the body.

Massage is beneficial for the many variables present in the
body. It can strengthen the skin, relieve muscular and joint
pains, and can also help in adding that element of robustness in
ligaments, tendons and connective tissues. It also has the
propensity to fortify the gastrointestinal system and the
reproductive organs.

Only a professional massage therapist who has received adequate
training can deliver a beneficial massage treatment. Though
traditional massage involves administering pressure using hands
and feet, nowadays the massage market is swamped with many
mechanical aids that help in providing more depth and variety to
the practice of massage.

One interesting device is the Massage Chair that comes equipped
with all kinds of bells and whistles such as a motor and various
mechanical protrusions that imitate the actions of a massage
therapist. These massage chairs are computerized and can be
adjusted according to the weight, height and the back contours
of the person. These massage chairs give an all-round massage
covering the back, neck, shoulders, hips, thighs, legs and even
the feet.

All types of medical practitioners ranging from the common
physician to the highly specialized sports trainer nowadays
prescribe massage for pain/stress relief and recovery. Massage
is helpful not only in providing physical relief, it also works
on the mind, freeing it from routine problems such as
depression, stress and mental fatigue.

Apart from mental and physical relief, massage is also used as
a sense-stimulator during the course of making love. Massage
connects with both the body and the mind, and rejuvenates the
entire being while calming the senses at the same time. As such,
just about everyone and anyone benefits from massage – right
from someone who is suffering from unbearable arthritic pains to
the robust rugby player who is plagued by injuries, to someone
who wants to get a sense of extraordinary stimulation during
lovemaking.

Massage is always received in a professional setting, wherein
the client has to remove his clothing and cover his body with
sheets or towels. The massage therapist needs the massage
receiver to be unclothed in order to get easy access to the body
parts that need massage. The sheets and towel that drape the
body provide the necessary warmth, comfort, and, of course, the
privacy.

The client has to lie down on a table that may be warmed or
sheeted so that it is comfortable to the body. A typical massage
setting will also have other elements that soothe the senses
such as enchanting music, aromatic candles and the like. It is
important that the client is fully relaxed before the massage
begins in order to receive the key benefits of massage therapy.

The massage session typically begins with the massage receiver
lying face upward, a position also known as the "supine"
position. During the second half of the massage, the receiver
has to roll over – this position is referred to as the "prone"
position.

If the massage has to be effective, then communication between
the therapist and the client has to be excellent. The client
must keep communicating to the therapist if he feels the
pressure being applied is too much or too less. Such feedback
can help the therapist take corrective action. The client must
always discuss his medical history and his current ailments with
the massage therapist before partaking the massage.

Some of the well-known and prominent massage techniques are:
The very popular Swedish Massage, Ayurvedic Abhyanga, Barefoot
Deep Tissue Massage, Chair Massage, Chinese Tui Na, Chinese Zhi
Ya, CranioSacral, Deep Muscle & Deep Tissue Massage, Effleurage,
The Hawaiian Lomilomi, Roman Massage and Reiki.

As a side note, massage therapy rocks as a career choice. Great
money, flexible hours and a growing interest and marketability
help make this profession a hightly sought after massage therapy
career choice.
